Dry Needling
Dry needling for effective pain reliefDry needling is a treatment method that originated in Canada and has been used for years as pain relief within regular physiotherapy.. Through a special technique, muscles are punctured, quickly and effectively inducing relaxation. This treatment utilizes an acupuncture needle, with no fluid injected into the muscle.
Dry needling is not the same as traditional acupuncture. In traditional acupuncture, multiple needles are often inserted superficially into the body. They remain there for some time (20-30 minutes) and influence the energy balance in the body. Dry needling usually uses only one needle, which briefly stimulates the muscle. That’s correct. Dry needling works on specific points in the muscles, known as “trigger points,” and is not an energy treatment.
Dry needling is useful for various pain complaints, including:
- Stiff muscles and joints
- Complaints of the neck, shoulders, arm, elbow, and wrist
- Complaints of the lower back, hip, buttock, and leg muscles
- Trigger points in muscles
