Stay and treatment at Medifit La Sella health center
During the PCS treatment program, you will stay on a full-board basis at the Medifit La Sella healthcare hotel located in the town of Denia. The treatments are carried out in our treatment rooms, exercise areas, indoor swimming pool, and outdoors.
The Post Concussion Symptoms (PCS) program is a collaboration between caregivers, medical and paramedical specialists, who are specialized in treating persistent symptoms following a concussion.
Unfortunately, a magical treatment or ‘quick fix’ does not exist. Therefore, we at Medifit have designed a comprehensive, scientifically-based treatment program in which we guide you on-site for 6 weeks and then online for 3 months. We help you to overcome your symptoms. The content of the concussion rehabilitation program is focused on addressing the causes of the symptoms.
This is how we assess your symptoms:

Step 1
Identifying the causes
- History (what happened), education/information about concussion provided by a concussion specialist;
- Blood circulation test (treadmill test);
- VOMS (vestibular and ocular) & neck examination;
- Psychological examination;
- Nutrition consultation.
Step 2
The creation of a customized treatment program
Based on the data from these examinations, the program is created in consultation with all medical professionals involved. The various treatments, such as cognitive physiotherapy, manual physiotherapy, orofacial therapy, medical training therapy, vestibular therapy, psychotherapy, nutrition science, tDCS, relaxation therapy, and audiovisual training are coordinated and constantly adjusted through retesting and interdisciplinary consultations.
Step 1: Indentify the causes
To provide an effective treatment, we start with a thorough analysis of the causes of your symptoms. This includes, among other things:
- Medical and neurological history (what happened?) and information provided by a concussion specialist
- Nutritional consultation
- Psychological assessment
- Blood circulation test (treadmill test)
- Vestibular and eye examination (VOMS test)
- Neck examination
Step 2: Create an individual treatment plan
Based on the examination results, an individual treatment program is developed in consultation with medical specialists. This may include:
- Cognitive physiotherapy
- Manual physiotherapy
- Orofacial therapy
- Medical training therapy
- Vestibular therapy
- Psychotherapy
- Nutritional advice
- tDCS (transcranial stimulation)
- Relaxation therapy
- Audiovisual training
During the treatment process, progress is continuously monitored and adjusted as needed through regular evaluations and interdisciplinary consultations.
Concussion rehabilitation program based on scientific research
The intensity for the rehabilitation of persistent symptoms after a concussion is based on specific “training zones”.s”. Therefore, with us, training and/or exercises are not conducted in the so-called “danger zone”. We do not engage in activities that cause excessive overstimulation far into the symptoms. On the contrary, we work based on the most recent scientific research.
Duration of the program
Before you travel to Spain, online intakes are conducted by the psychologist and the dietitian. This is to ensure you are well-prepared for your visit to our center. You will stay at our center for 6 weeks, during which all examinations will be conducted to determine the causes of your symptoms and at what level we need to address each cause through treatment. This is usually different for each cause. During these 6 weeks, you will also be prepared for your return home, and we provide 3 months of aftercare through online consultations and an online individual training program.

Reimbursement for the PCS Program
The PCS rehabilitation program is a private treatment and is not covered by health insurance providers. In some cases, partial reimbursement may be possible through supplementary insurance or a personal injury claim. Individual treatments may sometimes be reimbursed, similar to how they are covered in primary care practices. The level of reimbursement depends on your health insurer and policy conditions.
