Occupational therapy

Occupational therapy makes it possible for you to carry out daily activities (again) or to participate in activities in your own environment and in society.

If, as a result of health or other problems, you experience limitations in the daily activities that are important to you, occupational therapy may be needed. A physical or psychological problem or delayed development may limit your independence.

Our occupational therapist will mainly determine what you can still do. The treatment may consist of
– exercises
– learning to carry out an activity in a different way
– using an aid
– adapting an activity or the environment
– providing information to informal carers and close family and friends

By increasing your (own) capabilities, meaningful daily activities become possible again, and you can function at home (longer). The occupational therapist will advise and train you in such a way that you can carry out your daily activities yourself again as much as possible. Daily activities include washing and dressing yourself, preparing food, vacuuming, cycling, working, playing sports and playing pool. At Medifit Reha, the occupational therapist guides both adults and elderly.

How does a treatment look like

Ergotherapy does not only take place in the Medifit treatment room. The occupational therapist often comes to the place where the problems occur. For example at home or at work.

Advice, training and coaching

The occupational therapist works with you to find a solution to the problem. The aim is to ensure that you can perform activities with pleasure again, with support and guidance from the occupational therapist.

Ergotherapy is tailor-made care

The occupational therapist will first talk to you about what is really important to you. Then the occupational therapist will observe your daily activities. In this way, the occupational therapist will map out your limitations and possibilities.

Collaboration with other care providers

If necessary, the occupational therapist works together with other care providers within the Medifit rehabilitation centre. Such as:

• doctoral therapist
• Speech therapist
• Dietician
