Lung rehabilitation is aimed at reducing the symptoms as much as possible and learning to organise one’s own life in such a way that disorders limit one’s activities as little as possible. The ultimate goal is to recover as well as possible, to learn to push back and guard one’s limits, so that the patient can participate in social life as well as possible again.

How does the pulmonary rehabilitation programme work
The programme consists of various components that are well coordinated with each other. First of all, we work on improving the physical condition: lung complaints, stamina, muscle strength, breathing pattern and nutritional status.
In addition, there are various programme components aimed at reducing the limitations you may experience in your daily life. You learn how to make the right adjustments to achieve the best possible quality of life and independence. The treatment programme is tailored to the personal situation of each patient, in consultation with our Dutch lung specialist.
Within the respiratory rehabilitation programme, the following aspects are addressed:

- Joint mobility
- muscular strength
- Smoking
- Breathing techniques
- Improve fitness
- Relaxation therapy
- psychology
The pulmonary rehabilitation programme at MedifitReha is a multidisciplinary programme were the team members consult with each other and with you every week to see how the programme is progressing individually.
Excellent medical care in a favourable environment
You will become physically and mentally stronger with us. The feeling of tightness and fatigue will diminish; you will learn to cope with your lung condition.
During pulmonary rehabilitation you will stay at the Ana Maria Esponís Llopis Nursing Home located in Teulada – Moraira. On the top floor is the rehabilitation ward with bedrooms, communal living/dining area and the rehabilitation rooms. The stay for lung patients is necessary here because of the presence of oxygen from the wall and for the rest moments between treatments.

My rehabilitation stay at MedifitReha in Dénia was exactly what I needed. Living with MS means dealing not only with physical limitations but also emotional challenges - and at MedifitReha, I felt supported in both areas.
The program is intensive, highly professional, and personalized. I trained for three, sometimes four hours a day, five days a week - always adapted to my capabilities. This level of intensity, care, and focus is simply not possible at home in the Netherlands. Yet it never felt overwhelming.
The team knew exactly how to challenge me in the right way.
I noticed real improvements: more strength, increased muscle mass, better balance, and most importantly - more confidence in my body. I also learned to accept certain limitations, which gave me peace of mind. After all, everyone has limitations - some due to illness, others due to age or life circumstances.
The daily hydrotherapy was particularly helpful - training in warm water allowed me to move freely and safely, without fear of falling. It was the perfect way to work on my balance and core stability. I also enjoyed the cognitive training with the VR headset - it was fun and playful, yet challenging at the same time.
Another important part of the program was the psychological support.

On 09/11 I started the 8-week internal COPD Rehabilitation program at MedifitReha here in Spain. This was my last chance, I was no longer happy with this life. Everything due to the consequences of COPD. The gasping for breath, not being able to walk even 5 meters anymore, the lung attacks, and especially the gasping for breath.
And it wasn't pleasant for those around me to see me like that either.
