Sports Physiotherapy
A sports physiotherapist typically deals with clients who want to return to practicing their sportWhile with physiotherapy we generally treat patients to be able to perform general daily activities again, sports physiotherapy often goes a step further. They typically deal with clients who not only want to return to work, but also want to practice their sport again. As well as professional athletes who want to practice their sport at a high or even higher level again.
However, the sports physiotherapist also sees other (vulnerable) target groups in their practice, such as elderly people and children, where sport is specifically used as part of the therapy. Most complaints that bring people to the sports physiotherapist are injuries to the knee, ankle and shoulder. The therapy focuses not only on recovery of the affected joints, but also on training body parts that are still able to bear load in order to maintain fitness.
