Rehabilitation centre MedifitReha located on the Costa Blanca, in Spain was started by Miguel Martorell Schonenberg and Gerard Krol. Both have studied physiotherapy at the Fontys Hogeschool in Eindhoven (Netherlands). After their studies, they did many extra courses, such as manual therapy, sports physiotherapy, and rehabilitation therapy. Work experience was gained at various rehabilitation centres in the Netherlands (Eindhoven), England (London), Italy (Milan) and Spain (Valencia).

In 1998 we came together again and started a physiotherapy practice in Moraira (Spain). We brought many disciplines together in the physiotherapy practice to help our patients in the best possible way. The clinic quickly grew to include several disciplines. This gave force to the idea of starting a rehabilitation centre with a unique rehabilitation philosophy.

In September 2002, the international rehab centre MedifitReha was born. With the experience gained in several large rehabilitation centres in Europe, different rehabilitation programmes had been developed. The most important principle of all our rehabilitation programmes are personal intensive rehabilitation tailored to the needs and abilities of the patient.

Today, rehabilitation centre MedifitReha is known as one of the best rehabilitation centres in Europe.

Treatments and rehabilitation process

In MedifitReha you will find a professional team of therapists and medical specialists dedicated to rehabilitation medicine. We have extensive ‘hands-on’ experience in all kinds of neurological, physical, psychological, and cognitive disorder treatments.

We accompany and monitor the patient in the rehabilitation process from the first to the last day of his/her treatment programme. Our objective is to provide highly qualified care and efficient rehabilitation focused on each individual complaint. We achieve this by taking time for each patient. We constantly adapt the rehabilitation programme to the different possibilities at any given time. This personal (1:1), intensive and people-oriented approach is what makes our concept unique!

The team at MedifitReha

Our treatment team is led by a rehabilitation doctor; we have weekly multidisciplinary meetings to discuss each patient individually. The rehabilitation centre is led by an international management team which ensures that everything runs smoothly and according to plan. All administrative necessities are carefully handled by us, so that you can focus all your attention on the rehabilitation.

When you return home, we will also provide you with a medical transfer report. We can continue to support you online. If necessary, we can also contact your attending physician/specialist.

Cooperation

We aim to provide the best possible service for your care. Therefore, cooperation is important. After all, rehabilitation is one of the links in the care chain. The services provided by our rehabilitation centre are coordinated with those of other specialities, such as hospitals, nursing homes, home care, your GP and other first-line disciplines.

If possible, before you commence rehabilitation with us, we will have contact with your therapist, to prepare for your arrival as well as possible. At the end of the rehabilitation process, we always write an extensive final report, informing your doctor, specialist, or therapist of precisely what we have done and providing our advice for a possible continuation once you are back home.
